The results of the Great Shake Shack Debate.
Shake Shack wins!
Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien was the closest runner up, which barely edged out Corner Bistro. Here are the write in votes:

Toast on Broadway & 125th
Rare (2 votes)
Jackson Hole (2 votes)

Five Guys
Mc Donalds (2 votes)

I’m curious- what was the overall sample number of votes? Corner Bistro should have a much smaller piece of the pie in my opinion. I had the worst experience there last time! Ugh, thinking about it almost makes me sick.

Ok, so stemming from my burgr meetup post yesterday - should we use this as jumping off point? In one day, we could go to:

Burger Joint
Shake Shack
Corner Bistro

Here’s where it gets tricky. What other 2-4 places do we add (I’m thinking 5 places should be our max btw, especially with travel and wait time)? Suggestions in response to the post included:

Pop Burger
Lure Fishbar
Seymour Burton
Zaitzeff
Dumont (Williamsburg - add some time onto the journey)
Wall Street Burger Shoppe
Spitzer’s
Maxie’s Bar and Grill

In terms of dates, I propose Sunday, July 6th (Great way to end the weekend or already too fat and bloated from the 4th? You decide), Saturday July 19th, or some time in August.

Ok, I’m gonna admit it, I’ve never had Shake Shack. Yeah, I know, sue me. I promise to have it in the next few weeks. I’ve also never been to Corner Bistro or had a Burger at Luger’s.

I have had: Lucky Burger, Brgr, White Horse, Burgers and Cupcakes, Five Guys, Jackson Hole, Chelsea Grill, Island Burger (the chicken is way better), 123 Burger Shot Beer Sliders, Route 66 Cafe, and my personal favorite, Burger Joint.

I’m proposing we get a group together, create a consensus on the top 5-7 places to try throughout the five boroughs, and ultimately decide who has the best burger in NYC. This should take an entire day, especially if there’s some travel involved; but that’s probably better for our digestion.

Sure I know this has been done before, but not by me, not by us. So really, it doesn’t count. As we speak, Soup is surveying the unwashed masses (Met fans) to see what they think. Maybe we use those results as a jumping off point - or maybe we strike out on our own.

Now the real question: Who’s with me?

IN (N-OUT).

Lets do this! Sign me up. I want to add DuMont in Williamsburg to the list. :) - Sarah

Most awesome celebrity soccer match ever. -

The worlds of basketball and soccer will meet on artificial turf in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday when Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns and Claudio Reyna of the Red Bulls host the “Showdown in Chinatown.” The soccer match, for the benefit of the two players’ charitable foundations, will be played at Sara D. Roosevelt Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The roster of players also includes the English soccer players Steve McManaman and Robbie Fowler, and the N.B.A. players Jason Kidd, Baron Davis, Raja Bell, Leandro Barbosa and David Lee.

If you like soccer, the NBA, charity, or all three, and you have the opportunity, you owe it to yourself to check this out.  Should be a blast.

Afterwards, the guys are supposedly heading over to a nearby bar or club to party and hold an auction, but I can’t find much info on that.

Tumblr Day At Shea -

Hey, everybody - this is tonight.  I have an extra ticket if anybody would like it.  It’s 35 bucks, which is what I paid including shipping and other charges.  I’m obviously not looking to make any money with this.  E-mail zachlinder/gmail ASAP to claim it and join the fun.

Theres a block of 10 tickets for the game against the Rangers on StubHub.

I think this might be our best shot. The seats are 4 rows behind the boxes in the upper deck, just to the left of home plate. Good view of the field.

You will need to use the buddy system here as they only let you buy tickets in pairs, so find a friend and reblog this when you buy your tickets so we know who is coming. I am already in + 1.

Summer Volleyball

Hello friends,

The time has come, and although it usually means we get to hit the beach, Spike League is bringing beach volleyball to the grassy fields of Sinatra Park!  The park is located four blocks from the PATH train stop in Hoboken, right on the river.  So you get a clear view of the Manhattan skyline as you Greg Focker some unfortunate fool in the face.

I’ll be playing in some capacity, either with my Spring team, or as some sort of free agent.  Jay might return to the fold too.  Perhaps we can get something going.  It’s 4 person teams, co-ed.  Details at http://www.spikeleaguenj.com/
